Yes that's right. New Lost episodes mobisodes are here and for the next 12-13 weeks we shall be treating them like real fully fledged Lost episodes, because everyone in the Lost community is desperate. They are called Lost: Missing Pieces.
Right, before anyone asks these are stand alone 1-2 minute episodes, which are not season 4 spoilers or trailers or anything to do with Season 4. They are STAND ALONE. Here go to Wikipedia to find out more about the world of mobisodes. Wikipedia Link
OK then, that's out of the way. This week it's a...
...Jack Mobisode.
As it's only a 90 second mobisode it's all flashback so here we go. Jack is on a beach throwing stones into the sea. Jack's dad turns up. After some idle chit-chat, along the lines of "I am Jack and I am feeling sorry for myself." Christian gives Jack a hanker chief in the hanker chief is a watch. Christian tells Jack it's his grandfathers. Jack claims to have never seen him wear it before. Christian calmly replies saying that he never did. Jack's grandfather was not too keen on Jack's mom. Jack questions the point of the gift, Christian claims that he made the right choice with Sarah. (We know from the Season 3 finale that Sarah and Jack doesn't work out.) Christian tells Jack that if they ever have kids that Jack should treat his child better than Christian did to Jack.
BA-NAR!
Mobisode rating: 1/5 - ...Really, why do we need any more Jack?

I agree. If anyone's backstory gets more complicated yet more boring with every telling, it's Jack. Aren't there plenty of other LOST castaways with crazy intermingling back stories that were left in cliff hangers with still no answers? Jack used to be the soveriegn hero. Now he's just tired.
I think any extra information on the characters is helpful in solving the "mystery" of the island. So while waiting on the season to ever even start, these are great little pick me ups, and to get me back in to my "Lost-Mode" and preparing me to soon go back so the island for a bunch of stuff that will continue to make me go "Huh??????"
I find the connections between characters extremely interesting and mysterious. Piecing all the links together is key to making the show one in which we all want to continue to follow. Jack's father always seems to have a link to several of the characters so whenever he pops into the storyline it may have quite a role to play not only with Jack's life, but one or more of the other key characters as well. What I love about this show the most is the fact that whenever I find a missing link with this show, an "AH-HUH!" moment so to speak, instead of just being a solved mystery it brings about more questions.
Some interesting points have been raised in this comment section.
Check back to the Three R's for (hopefully) answers or more questions about LOST as we continue to endevour the reviews and recpas of LOST.
I disagree Anonymous, I find Jack's story very intriguing. He is the key to the whole plot / reason they are on the island / reason they are never found / reason they crashed. I think his story is intriguing and powerful. ok i'm actually a bit obsessed at the moment. :)
????????
Potentially, the watch given to Jack by his father could be a connection to the watch Jin was entrusted with by his father-in-law, but it really doesn't seem like a particularly useful connection at this point.
Really random but... I want to know what happened to Christian's body when the plane crashed!
Jack's dad plays some form of significant role. I found it very interesting that in the last finale when Jack flashed 'forward' he referred to his dad as though he were still living. Jack was defintely tanked on booze, but he didn't seem to mix the past and present in any other areas. This makes me me think there is much more to Jack's dad than meets the eye...
all i can say is WHAT THE????
its all so confusing! lol but i love it!
the FF made me think that Christian was NEVER dead, that somehow there's a conspiracy around Jack - it could have been another cadaver in the body bag that Jack saw, or Christian drugged up and made to look dead - that's the only time Jack sees the body - and he is surprised that Juliet has seen Christian's autopsy.
this watch may not be greatly significant, but fits in with the major themes of time and its relative importance or unimportance when you are stranded on an island, when you are lost.
My first thought was maybe it's a reference to that old saying, "Only time will tell".
